The $50 a day project…

The $50 a day project is an exercise where I will attempt to restrict my spending to a daily average of $50 a day for the entire year of 2012. This includes rent, food, clothing, everything. The image you see below is the latest chart of my spending habits and my current to date daily average.

Oh yeah, BTW, I’m doing this while living in Key West.

  1. this does look like fun. and very enlightening!
i’m going to keep mine in a notebook. love your simple
chart. and it’s a great personal challenge! thanks.

  2. I just stumbled across your blog today, I am impressed! I am leaving New England April 1st to try and do the same exact thing your doing, minus the blog! I just want to see if I can do it. I have lived in NE all my life, I am tired of paying oil bills to heat my house and for gas. Nothing is close by in NE, requiring you to drive miles and spend too much. I think its wonderful there are explorers that are willing to try to live more simply!

    • I wish you the very best. But the best advice I can give you is to research as much as possible before making any drastic move. Make sure where you are going and how you want to live there is doable. Be ready for big changes and interesting times ahead.

And don’t be afraid to share your successes as well as your failures on a blog. People love to read about this sort of thing and want to the know the good as well as the bad.
